Most of us will agree that using real fur is simply not done. However, the weather and wind are changing and the days are getting shorter and colder. Hiding in a nice warm fluffy winter collar is just what you might need.
How to achieve this without the guilt? Simply knit! There are many stitches to create volume, but one of my favourites is this big loop stitch. Depending on the yarn you use, it becomes a very thick fabric, perfect for collars. The loops can be adjusted to whatever length you like. When you make the loops long, you can really make the most of those special twisted or multicolour yarns.
If you would like to learn how to hand knit this stitch I recommend the video tutorial on the website of Wool and the Gang.
